Day 83

"Triversen poem"

Cabin Fever

Winter started early this year,
in November on Thanksgiving,
and hasn't eased up since.

Arctic temperatures
and endless snow storms
that leave piles up to my waist.

The bitter cold
and icey roads
make it impossible to leave our home.

Can't even run to the liquor store
where they keep the medicine
for cabin fever.

It's been months of being stuck
inside my tiny house
with screaming kids who want to play.

Even now that Spring has come
it's still too cold to go outside
where freedom waits.
